Ubuntu Coffee Packaging

Industry: Coffee Brand  /  Location: Zimbabwe, Africa  /  Commissioned:  Personal

I have always wanted to create a packaging for a coffee brand, so I decided to revisit my personal branding project ‘Ubuntu’, and figure out a packaging concept for it.

The idea behind this coffee brand from Africa, was to celebrate its african origins.

The name ‘Ubuntu’ is a Nguni Bantu term meaning “humanity.” It is often translated as “I am because we are,” or “humanity towards others,” but is often used in a more philosophical sense to mean “the belief in a universal bond of sharing that connects all humanity”.

The meaning behind the bright red circle, used in each illustration, is to symbolize the african sun and the red coffee bean, from which the coffee arises.

Each variant has its own illustration, pattern, name and color, which help capture the feeling and taste of each blend, aswell as paying a tribute to the different parts of Africa.
